This week is Alcohol Awareness Week, and with England playing their quarter-final on Saturday evening, many people will be getting together to watch the match.
Football can be a great way to spend time with family and friends. Whether you are watching at home, in a pub or with your community, we all want everyone to enjoy the occasion safely.
Alcohol can affect our judgement and make it harder to manage our emotions. Research shows that incidents of domestic abuse can increase around major sporting events, particularly when alcohol is involved.
Domestic abuse is not just physical violence. It can also include controlling behaviour, intimidation, threats, verbal abuse and emotional abuse.
Whatever happens on the pitch, nobody at home is responsible for the result.
If you are planning to drink, think about your limits, look out for the people around you and make sure everyone feels safe and respected.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse, or are worried about your own behaviour, support is available.
